Habanero Titanium Morph Bicycle

May 2016. A bike that can do track and criteriums.

Based upon my appreciation of my steel Morph bike, I had the opportunity to have a similar design built out of Titanium by HabCycles.com. The frame is immensely stiffer than the steel bike and 30 grams lighter along with a 10 gram lighter titanium seatpost. It is also less forgiving on bumpy roads and has a lively ring to it. I was able to incorporate the Ritchey Break-Away system so that the frame can be taken apart and traveled with without extra baggage fees.

The rear spacing is 130 mm for a road wheel, and uses 3/16 aluminum spacers for using standard 120 mm track wheels. A single ring track crank with a BCD of 144 uses standard track chainrings and circa 1970 road chainrings (with a chain catcher to prevent dropping the chain). There are four 4 mm outlets for attaching cable guides for the road setup for the rear brake and rear derailleur which can be removed for track racing.
