Our kids: Tango and Cash
(All pictures can be clicked for a larger image in a separate window)
We have two wonderful cats that live with us. We got them for free as six week old brothers when we were living in the Chelan house. They have both been neutered young and the front claws removed (saves a lot of furniture). We smother them with love and they return the favor back. Last we weighed them, they were 15 pounds each, all muscle. Tango is gray with soft downy fur, while Cash is black and has silky fur. They get along well with each other and even rough house with each other about once a day (sometimes at 4am!).
They have adapted well to living in the
RV after spending the first two years of their life with total
freedom to go in and out. They always wear there harnesses and
are tethered with ten foot cables when outside. People are often
amazed that they accept the harnesses so well and can even be
walked on leashes. We had a plan to adapt them to this before we
had to restrict them to RV living. At first we tried breakaway
buckle harnesses, but they immediately learned to run full
throttle to free themselves. We discovered that we had to use
metal buckles and tighten them up to the point that it would seem
intolerable (although it has remained that tight for the last
year with no apparent ill effects), otherwise, they would wriggle
out. Then they were allowed outside only on their tethers and
they learned fairly quickly that when they felt a tug on the
harness that it was pointless to try any further. The stops at
the end of the line got gentler with time. With this new learning
of the tug, it can then also be implemented when using leashes
when stopping at rest areas.
They often hang out together, but also are very independent..
The easist pictures to take are when the are napping (which is most of the time now) and they look real cute.
Sometimes we find them in strange spots and positions.
I'll keep tyring to catch them in the air when they're playing with each other..
